Government Emergency Alert Notification: An emergency alert was received on the smartphones of people across the country around 10.20 am. If you have also received such an alert on your mobile, then there is no need to worry. There was no immediate danger, this was just a test.
This alert was issued by the Central Government’s Department of Telecommunication. A system of notifying all the citizens of the country simultaneously in the event of an emergency, or a major crisis, was tested. Due to this, if such a situation arises in the future, all the citizens will get an alert in time.
The notification also came in Regional Language:
At 10.20 am everyone received an emergency alert in English. After some time, at 10.31 am another such alert was received in regional languages too. The current alert was just a test, so there is no reason to panic or worry.
Earlier, a similar test was conducted in Britain in the month of April. During this trial, the message ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’ was sent to the mobile phones of all citizens in the UK.
